Narnia!

This is my first attempt to do a movie critic, haha. I have watched Narnia twice (there is a hole in my pocket, I know) and nevertheless, it still brings me joy, hope and grandeur to my heart everytime I think about it...
What I like about plot is on the innocence of all the characters, especially since they were played by and with children. Violence and gruelsome scenes are close to none, even the evil creatures kinda look goofy, except for the Snow Queen of course, she does look a little menancing, but not scarily meanancing like some Sadako like-creature, just.. fierce.. and icy, of course.
The beaver is ever so cute, but I cannot stand his spouse (the female beaver) who totally does not act nor sound like a beaver, and I feel is annoying with her high-pitched, thick british accented voice which sounds more like a grandmother fussing over the kids.
The initial scenes when the children were sent away during the WW2 brought a few tears to many watching, we are reminded of the harsh reality of life during the war. But the scenes where the children are in the house of the professor and when Lucy first met Mr Tummas, the human-goat like thingy callled a faun was a tad too draggy...
Of course the most glorious part of the show is when Peter and Edmund, (so called sons of Adam) fulfilled the prophecy and transformed themselves into teenage warriors for Narnia. Its amazing, really to see boys dressed in armour, it brings the man out of them. The battle scene was fantastic. (cos I heard it was from Weta digital which helped do LOTR too) I could watch that for 10 times and it still takes my breath away. (Maybe I'm more like a military person.. :P)
And when the children were crowned kings and queens, I felt they never looked better.. The costumes brought the best features and grandeur out of them.
Apart from very good props, the bibilcal content of the story goes well with christians. :) Aslan the lion was an accurate respresentation of Jesus in many aspects. How he sacrificed his life, how he was willing to be the subject of torture for those evil ones... enough said...

Overall, I love the show.

HELLO NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

No matter what, I'm going to welcome the new year! 2006! Well, even if the recent years have not been good for the world as a whole, I'm not gonna sit there and sulk at life (as I aways do)
No matter the outcome, what will happen is not within my control. What for make life harder than it is?
New Year resolutions:
  1. I will love thy neighbour as thy self
  2. I will not sulk/whine or be extra sensitive to people's reaction/ treatment towards me
  3. I will get on with my life and not take days/ weeks to mull over things that will not happen/have yet to happen
  4. I will get over with my past.
  5. I will learn to trust myself and my judgements better

Have not been writing for the past few weeks... as usual was in a state of confusion. Unsure if myself, unsure of my directions, unsure of the future. And I felt a lot of disappointments in me. Disappointed with how I handled certain friendships, disappointed at how I let friendships drift apart from me, disappointed that certain friendships are just not meant to be. Its disgusting. I never had so much problems with stuffs like this before. Maybe because my social circle expanded. Maybe its because I'm dealing with friends of both genders now. (Well I din have much guy friends in the past) Maybe I just have nothing to worry about and I find this stupid thing to keep me occupied.

Earlier this afternoon, I lay in bed, with the aircon on, and the rain splattered against my windows. My room was dark and gray, I lay there and pondered and pondered and pondered. And suddenly I sat up on my bed telling myself: That does it! I'm not going to drown myself in self pity, self sorrow thinking that I am the most pathethic thing in the world. I am so, so fortunate to even be here! I ( with God's grace) have brought myself this far in life, academically, spiritually, emotionally, physically, I am not going to lead myself elsewhere! I am not going to wait for people to give me instructions, or tell me what to do. Its time I made a stand in my life. Its my life that I'm leading. Not yours, not his or hers. I have to learn to take in shit, accept failures, and get over with all the good and bad things in life. The world is not perfect afterall...

Okay, i feel good letting this off my chest for now. It would be very inappropriate if I did not leave a mark here for the new year.... Amy approaches her adult year in 2006!!!! YAY!!! R(A) movies!!!! Huh.. erm.. ahem.. *look poised*

Kayaking expedition

Yesterday's expedition was funnn... so funn... kayaked from Changi Beach to Pulau Ubin and back to Pasir Ris Beach again...
Haa.. now my arms and my back are all aching... my thighs too... oh shoulders too...

Wah.. I have to comment about Singapore waters.... tsk tsk tsk.... I was kayaking in a sea of sludge/shit/sewage/cappacino???
This thick.. foammy brown layer that Fish says it smells like keropok.... Hmm.. actually the colour looks a bit like keropok too.. the brownish kind of keropok...

And along the way.. I saw plenty of flying fishes.. they leapt and skipped on the water... so cute.. :)
We actually went to Chek Jawa's little lagoon to chill out. Its quite a beautiful place, only that its murky because of the "cappacino water" and there were beds of seaweed. I actually picked out some seaweed to place on my kayak to dry them and bring them home, but this queer guy from another kayak took my seaweed away when we rafted up and he din return me! erggh...
We had lunch on this ulu and unglamourous beach and I was spitting orange seeds into bushes..
and trying to crack hard boiled eggs on Nicole's kneecaps. Realised that if I cracked eggs on knee caps, the egg shell comes off in one piece, like a cap.. I'm so proud of it... *.*
Den comes the climax of the day, we were caught in a storm in the afternoon. This is a picture minutes before the mad storm, at 4 pm.

4 pm!!!! The sky was this dark at 4pm!!!!!

So imagine when the storm came. 2 pathetic souls (me and Nicole) holding 2 pathetic paddles on a pathetic kayak paddling against a vast sea of waves and splattering rain. Not to forget that the wind were obstructing our paddles too.
I literally screamed my last km back. "right, LEEFFTTT!!!! right, LEFFTT!!!!......" den I went "Ergh!!! ARGGHH!!!" Machiam like constipating. Cos have to use the paddles to push back the waters. But it was adrenaline rushing. With lightings striking at the corners of my eyes and knowing that I'm wet with ions Na+ and Cl- and sticking out like a sore thumb on the flat open sea, chances of me getting struck is damn high la. I prayed hard for God's mercy. haha. I think thhe last part used up most of my energy. :P

But it was an eventful day. Yea.

I should be out in the sun playing,

I wanna bum at home,
making cakes and jellies....
Ohhhhhh.... its a lazy afternoon.......

Ladies Fingers and powerful prunes

Ahhh!!!! I'm so pleased with myself.. hahaha! I bought a bottle of nail polish out of boredom today and managed to paint my nails!!!!! Paint my nails! Took me 4 hours! That was something I did horribly in the past! :)
Haha.. but because my sis is a manicurist I have managed to learn some skills on painting from her!!!!!

Eeks... since when have I become so "lady".... hahahaha... must be influenced from friends or something.... thanks to my painted nails, my manly fingers have become feminine...
Gee... I'm so sad.. a couple of my friends are going rock-climbing at Krabi, near Phi Phi island some time this month. The beeeautiful beaches, and sand, and sea... And I'm not allowed to go!!!!!! *Sobs* .....*WAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!*
Its okie... have fun, my rock climbing friends, just dun forget to take some nice pictures for me... I will go one day! I will!!!!!
Talking about rock climbing, I saw this 9 year old boy at Climb Asia on wednesday. Nicole swears he is a chimpanzee. I am just flabberghasted at his skills la... He, this 9 year-old, puny little boy, can have more stamina and strength to hold on to the tiles just hanging by his hands, and the rest of us gals... big bottoms and all.... let our backsides pull us to the ground. Haa. Cool dude, this little guy... his bro is a national climber, 20 yrs old. At fiirst I thought.. wah.. 20, so old... then I realised.. wait a min.. I'm 20 too!!!! *gasp*
This little guy, just stays in climb asia everyday. And just climbs without tiring. Madness. I need to improve my stamina. So that I can have the energy to climb without tiring. Must start swimming and running more often man... recharge my battery....
Tokkin about prunes... thhey are powerful... I got bored on Thursday and walloped half a pack of sunsweet prunes. So nice.. the juice and moist of the prunes still retained in the prunes after taking out the pit.. the sunsweet way! Anyway thats not the point. The point is... never eat so many prunes. I had to "go" for at least three times in that evening and on Friday. Not very good, especially if you are going out... but at least, my system was cleared.... detox. haha. =x

Osim Slimming Belt...

GOsh... I HATE products like this!!!!! Absolutely hate it.... Are such products going to further cause more girls to suffer and think that they are FOREVER not slim enough???? I hate those slimming advertisements on newspapers!!!
You see... my parents are persuading ME to buy the Otto or Osim (wad eva!) slimming belt. Its this huge vibrating belt like those wrestling matches we watch where the winner dons it.... You know... place it on my tummy... let it jiggle the fats away... and my arms and thighs as well.. JIGGLE the fats away...
I don't understand. Its 300 dollars. A whopping $300. I can buy so many more useful stuff than that "jiggling" thing. And yet, my parents were rather enthusiastically asking me if I want to get it. I know its nice of them... they wanted to buy it for me... but WHY!!!!!!! Am I that huge?
One reason my mom gave was because my neighbours have it. And they are not even fat! They are faaar from fat. Their whole weight-conscious family is using it. Some comments my parents gave: 'It will reduce your arm size" "Ohh... its not that you are fat.. you need to reduce your frame...." right. Okay. yes I appreciate the fact that my parents want me to look good. They probably dun want any guys running away from me, and maybe they feel my self-esteem will be improved if I am slimmer.
But if I have to blame, I will blame the freeakin mass media. Argh! Believe me! Ask around! NO GIRL WILL THINK THEY ARE SLIM ENOUGH.
I'm sick of it.. I'm sick of myself saying that I am fat.. I'm sick of friends telling me they have fats which I think are practically non-existent. I am not fat. Get real! I know that it is impossible to be as thin as those actresses unless I eat raw veggies and nothing more everyday! That applies to the rest of the gals too! It is impossible to be soooo thin and yet have a normal diet! Such thinness sucks the life out of people! They dun eat much! Might as well be manneqins.
The final fact: Being thin does not mean being beautiful. Its how well you feel good about youself that brings forth the radiant beauty. I used to be much thinner than I was now. But because I was always so unhappy with myself, I often look listless and dull, always sulking. That does not make me look better than I am now....
To hell with those ads and peer pressure to be thin. Just ensure a healthy lifestyle, exercise more, feel healthy.. what more can you ask for? To be thin and sickly from dieting?

Hello, you old and salty bitch.
