Instant Noodles: the Ultimate gift for Asians

I say instant noodles is the ultimate gift to Asians. I dunno how on earth did anyone come up with this idea, but this person whose invented instant noodles must have saved millions and millions of asians from hunger, and at a very cheap price, put these asian bellies on cloud nine.

I was hurrying home. Outside food were a tad too expensive and I wanted to eat something nice and soupy. By the time I reached home at 10 plus pm, my stomach was roaring with hunger. Rumbling was an understatement. I whipped out my pot, boiled the water and threw in Maggie Mee curry flavor. Waited about 3-4 minutes. Cracked in an egg and stirred. Had some leftover veggies. Microwaved them.

Within 15 minutes of reaching home, I brought out a bowl of noodles and a small plate of veggies from the kitchen and sat at my dining table. I said my grace and stared at my food. I sniffed it. Ahh... 幸福。。。 I kept telling myself, so 幸福... I felt like I could start tearing from eating that bowl of noodles... It was nice, soupy and filling. It was, ultimate bliss. @_@
At the moment of consumating my blissful food, I thought of nothing else. My agenda for the night, the stuff I have not done... all pushed aside. Using my chopsticks I clasped those noodles and slurped it into my mouth... *sobz* ... so nice...*sobz* what a blissful meal prepared within 10-15 minutes.... Delicious eggy soup... Nice slippery noodles, beautiful warm dish for a hungry pathetic stomach.

Nevermind the msgs or transfats. To hell with them for the moment. (Anyway the packet I was eating labelled no transfat and recduced msg) At that very moment, its me in my garden of eden eating my forbidden fruit....

Instant noodles... what is life without them?

Anyway, check out this soft toy that I just made... in case its ugly beyond recognition, its a toad/frog. I love it.. even though its quite ugly. Cos I made it haaaa....

Open a new window for me

The more I know, the more I don't know
The more I think, the the more complicated things get
The more complicated the more absurd
The more absurd the more ridiculous
The more ridiculous, the more it becomes a laughing stock
And thus laughing stocks get reduced to nothing.

The more I despise, the smaller I become
The smaller and more insignificant I am, the more bitterness I harbor
The more bitterness I harbor, the colder I become
The colder I am, the blinder I get
And the blinder I get, I become more despicable than what I despise

A simple heart is all it takes
Trust and faith in the people around me
Childlike dependence and sincerity

Only then can I experience the warmth in my heart,
Only then can I feel love

All it takes is simple faith and trust.
All it takes is a sincere heart.
Its that simple, but, way difficult for my heart

For my heart is filled with ego and pride
Thinking I am smarter, belittling others
A heart like mine, will feel the pain.

And He chose the simplest and most naive things of the world
To put me to shame.

Naruto Fans unite...

On the third day of new year my relatives came visiting my house. I was watching Naruto on youtube in the evening....

My little 4 year old nephew came into my room. He stopped in his tracks and gazed at the fighting scenes I was watching...

Within a few minutes he climbed up my lap with my help and the both of us, aunt and nephew, huddled together and gazed deep into the screen of the laptop as we absorbed ourselves into the anime....

Gaara

爱。。。。

ShIn Nen KuAi Leh!

Crap.... if you know what I'm trying to say in Chinese... it means that to me, CNY is a time where we should instead treasure our friends and loved ones. Happy New Year!!!!

Finally... I get to buy this.....

Sleep does the remedy....

God made humans in such a way that we MUST sleep. God is good. Cos He knows we need the rest. He also made a covenant with us that on the day of the Sabaath, we cannot do anything. So that we have the rest. And Sabaath day happens to be our Sundays.

Sometimes, after being burdened by so many things to do and plan, I feel like I cannot carry on anymore. So, I go to sleep. Ha. Sometimes I deliberately go to bed at 9.30pm. Nevermind if I toss and turn. I just lie on my nice bed and space out. Destress. Then I fall asleep.

I went to sleep at about 12am last night. Ya, its not very early. But I slept and slept without caring what time I will wake up the next morning. Thinking of what I have to do for the weekend and the next week itself is so stressful. Argghh just.. sleep.

And sleep I did. On my nice sea-horse brand foam mattress. Ahh.. my pink bedsheets, and snuggle under my pink blanket clutching my pink bolster.... Sweeeet.... And I woke up at 10 am, feeling refreshed... Suddenly all the worries I had for what to do for the whole week ahead seems small. I feel like I can do a lot more things. :)

Which reminds me of my pastor who shared this analogy with us.... when she got stuck in a highway running out of petrol in Malaysia:

Life is like a highway. You just go on and on and on.... sometimes you worry whether you will run out of fuel. But there will always be petrol kiosks along the way. Thats how highways are built. Where there is a highway, there will always be petrol kiosks. When people work, we can always be guaranteed rest through sleep, through our Sundays, restdays etc. Sleep is not always a waste of time. It is your petrol kiosk.

Weighty issues....

I thought I had grown out of it. Sigh. I thought I had come to accept my own body. I think its a vicious cycle. Because I have come to be very conscious of my weight again. Lets see... I'm going to turn 22 this year. Ever since I was 14, I have been very weight conscious. Ever since then, I look at my waistline every single morning, every time I see a mirror, everytime I walk past a reflection. Most of the time. Ever since I was 14, I wondered how to lose the fats around my tummy. 8 years. 8 years of weight consciousness and its still going on.

I think its part of my life. Part of a woman's life. To be conscious to want to look good. Come to terms with yourself and be happy with your own body. Bull Sh*t. With all the people around you poking fun of your flabs, with all the slimming advertisements going on, how can you lie to yourself that you are pleased with your own body? The worse thing is that it not as if I'm a potato couch that can't even manage a couple of crunches. I know I can run, swim and have the strength to do many other things. Although I don't do them that often, but I really workout. And there are people who tell me to do more house work or exercise more vigourously to lose weight. -_-'''

Must I really resort to this, to eating fish soups, non-fried food, packing sandwiches all my life??? Do I really have to avoid meat and eat fruits for detox and perhaps half a bowl of rice all the time???? I have tried all the above, yes it works but I cannot see myself having this sort of lifestyle permanently.

Argh whatever it is I am going to resolve to lose my flabs again. Maybe I will run everyday. Do 50 crunches every night. Cut down on fatty food... Argh... need the discipline....

I love Kakashi!!!!!

In Naruto, I love the character Kakashi. Why? Cos he's tall and cool. And the cloth over his mouth makes him look mysterious....
I love mysterious men. @_@.... Like they have a lot of potential but don't show it... crouching tiger hidden dragon sorta thing. @_@...
I thought about my life in future: there are 2 very drastic personalities I would like to become...
1) The ultimate housewife. Some of you might remember my entry a few years back, I said I would love to be a housewife with the best baking appliances. I would love to stay home and invent new recipes, be a good hostess to my guests and serve them dian xin like every weekend. :)
2) The GI Jane. Like Kakashi!!!!!! *.* The outdoor woman, maybe joining the army or some outdoor company, and be tanned and muscular, wearing a pair of oakley sunglasses, having toned arms :P Carrying a macpac haversack, trekking/ kayaking through the wilderness... fwah....

My name is Amy FWAH!!!

Lets see all the devations of surnames I have. Amy Phua. Amy P. Amy Peee, Amy Pua-sami. Now, I introduce to you, Amy FWAH.

Why Amy Fwah? Thanks to my lecturer, the one with the heavy aussie accent. *shudders*
how do you pronounce phone? Or Philosophy? You pronounce it as f-one, and Fee-losophy rite?

So, when you see P-H-U-A, how do you pronounce it? FWAH! Especially people who are so un-Singaporean and have never watched local TV, you will probably pronounce it that way. Which I think my lecturer is.

So, when he took attendance, I nearly fell off my chair when he announced to the whole class: FWAH- MEI- YEN. (think saying this in a very very aussie accent) EEEKKK....

Saturday mornings

I love Saturday mornings...... I can get to sleep in and not be bothered with the time I have to wake up. Even though I woke up relatively early, like 8.40am, but I felt no pressure to rush through things. I have a whole lot of things to complete for the week, and it felt good that I have the whole day to myself just to settle all my stuff.

Then I can watch my TV, play my guitar, sing my songs, draw, read, laze around, under the cool cloudy sky of Saturday morning... And, not to forget, do my readings....

Recently I'm into drawing anime characters again. I haven drew them since my JC days, and now that I'm into watching Naruto, I got this desire to start drawing again. So cool. ahh if only I got a scanner, then I can scan in my drawings...
