RAWWWRRRR!!!!! Here comes the Hulkess!!! What is a Hulkess? A female Hulk... You know? that green monster? Okay.. I'm exaggerating. Short of the green colour and the fiery temper, haha.. but the build is there. That beefy body.
Over dinner, I asked my dad... "Daddy ah... people who swim often have broad shoulders rite?" He nodded, I proceeded to ask: " Do my shoulders look broad to you?" He replied: " So broad, like a man ah! All guys will run away from you! You dun look feminine at all! Think you cannot take on jobs like air stewardess or a receptionist.. those frontline jobs that require petite ladies...You can work as a bouncer though." -_-"' Thanks dad...
Haha.. but I laughed it off... "I never saw myself as a feminine kinda woman, ever since young." His eyes widened for a second. (think he thought I wanted to become a butch) To cut his shock I added: "Not that I don't see myself as a woman at all, there can be many types of women..." I was kind of amused.. hahaha.. so my father actually prefers petite women like my mom(duh!?!)!!! Hahaha...
But all along I never knew that my body was beefy.. I thought that I was just fat. Or maybe its fat and muscles mixed together.. Haha.. Until recently, a lot of people have been telling me I got huge arms.. not flabby but like those canoeists.. I remember another conversation with a friend: Hey Mei Yen.. You look better in long sleeved shirt. Why? Oh.. it hides your big arms.
Not that I don't like my arms and broad shoulders, I like them this way, at least for now. I don't get so frightened now if I have to walk in some deserted place at night, some sense of security for me. :)
But I guess as long as its not too much fats, I embrace my body as it is: short and stout. I know I can never get a pencil thin body. Its just not my body type. And right now, I have never felt healthier, I feel gooood. Better a toned stout tanned bod like the hulk than a slim but not too healthy body yea?
Oh ya.. did I mention my dad ended off the conversation with: " I think if you were a pig being slaughtered, shoulder ham from you would sell very well". What a joker.

A closet dancer revealed and a picnic under the 'stars'
Hey closet dancer.. you know who you are.. haha.. wow.. amazing. Yesterday during fellowship meeting my group was in charge of the main programme. So we did a choreograph session. I spent a hilarious 15 minutes trying to learn the dance steps Pei Qi came up with before teaching the rest as well. What I have learnt about dancing: you have to let loose. There is no such thing as face. Just shake your bon bon and let the adrenaline overcome your body. Haha.. I ended up doing stupid moves that made everyone laugh. And Pei Qi did this awesome hip hop free dance during one part of the song where there are 8 beats and its free dancing. AWESOME. She's really a closet dancer. Haha. Din expect all the cool moves to come out from her. Step out of the closet gal!!! Woo.. but I think this got my interest in dancing.. the nerdish me never got a chance to perform since... I dunno when. Nobody in school ever asked me to dance and perform too.. think people must have thought I was such a geek.
Then in the evening was the picnic under the stars. What a night. No stars, not even the moon in sight. But ultimately what matters is not the stars, but the food and company. Cool place, we were settled at an open space at Marina Bay which was supposed to be very ulu and dark. Initially I thought so. Matthew led us from the mrt station to walk in the most deserted path, through a tunnel, pass a quarry..... and finally to the open space where we settled; by the river with the bright and dazzling CBD area at the other end of the river. So ... it was not really dark, and we had a good view of the CBD district, can even see the esplanade and suntec city. In a sense it wasn't very ulu either. We placed mats and lit candles(got blown off by the wind later :(..) played some ice-breakers and got down to eating... ahh Singaporeans' best past time. Initially I thought there was a shortage of food.. but turned out we had an surplus of it ( always the case for Singaporean gatherings) It was so cool.. munching on my sandwich/ salad/chicken.. looking at the beautifully lit buildings across the river, having a nice chat with friends, a fantastic way to unwind. ahh.. and after filling our stomaches we sang songs about the stars and all... and finally we celebrated Jay Hoon's birthday.. great cake, white chocolate and macademia nut. Slurrrrrp. Oh.. did I mention we ate mars bars to commemorate the hoax that mars was to be emminently seen yesterday night. Perfect. Mars bars rock. We finally made our way back to Raffles Place mrt station and headed home... Cool picnic

Reeelaaaxxx......
Hmm.. ok.. sorry if my previous entry caused any worry for my mental health.. I'm fine. I'm fine... although still a little traumatised after reliving the experience last night...
Haha.. thats what happens when you blog late at night.. as the night grows deeper, so does your thoughts.
I still love my family very much, think its just a misunderstanding between us that things got so horribly wrong for me. But I believe that they are concerned for me but just totally unaware of whats going on.
Its actually good that I am able to bring this up, it shows I am ready to face this matter openly. In the past, it hurt so much I didn't even want to think or mention about it.
Life is good for me, in fact it never has been better. I'm moving on and counting my blessings, still the same old jovial Mei Yen/Amy as always.. :)

November Fourteenth
November 14th, three years back,
Debut of Harry Potter the movie,
A missed call from overseas.
Dreadfully I returned the call...
:
Go further back 8 months, the month of March
Jaws clenched, facial muscles tightened
so as not to let tears flow
My chest felt heavy; can't breathe properly
Vision blurred by tears
I bade her farewell as she walked through departure gates
Sending her off, back to her hometown,
Reunited with her beloved family.
But she leaves with a heavy heart,
Knowing that the thing in her is devouring her life away...
I wondered when will I see her again,
Not realising that would be the last I saw of her...
Drowned my sorrows in heavy metal music,
Filled my emptiness in heavy metal music,
The emptiness from removing her presence in my life,
Her presence that was so deeply entrenched in my heart,
Right from the start when I even learnt how to walk.
Week after week I called her to chat,
Missed her so badly, can't see her face
Yet week after week it pains me to call
For she withers away quicker than I thought
Our conversations get shorter; she is in pain
Months pass and her painful cries get louder,
and louder, AND LOUDER
She tells me of how she cannot sleep, how she cannot eat
Time passes so slowly and painfully for her, she wanted so much to see my face,
Day and night she calls for my name, even more than her daughter's.
Never have I felt so helpless, never have I felt such misery
Using all my might to hold back my tears as I talked to her;
For she weeps even more if I wept.
At home, everyone puts up a show.
Not much traces of hurt, not much traces of grief I show.
"Why do you cry?" My naive sis asks.." She is just a maid"... From then on I never cried in front of them..
Nobody asked if I felt like crying....
Its as if I'm made up of stone
My bed is my nest of grief.
Bedsheets and pillow cases crummy with tears
Every night a ritual, before I fall asleep.
Get up the next morning, doing all I can to reduce my puffy eyes,
I go to school looking like the happiest person alive.
Its as if I'm made of stone.
And months pass.
Mother knows of her critical condition, the cancer devouring her rapidly,
tells me to assure her to let go her longing for me,
so that she can end her suffering soon and leave this world
It was like the most ridiculous thing I did over the phone
To give approval to let the one I love so much die.
What a thing to say to her,
ITS AS IF I'M MADE OF STONE
By now, our phone conversation lasts less than 5 minutes,
She can even barely moan. Can't even hold the phone.
All she wants is hear my voice, for she still thinks of me day and night.
Time and time again I put on a strong front,
And breakdown on my bed everynight.
:
Evening of November 14th, after watching Harry Potter,
I returned the call already knowing what to expect
Her daughter tells me she has passed away
Relief overwhelmed me, her pain has ended,
But not without anguish and devastation I felt.
Cried myself to sleep that night,
Singing a song over and over again,
A song starting with "Don't lose your way.."
Hoping that she can hear me,
And not lose her way in the other world. What foolishness.
Yet again my family know of the news of her death
Not one has comforted me of this up till this day
Its as if I'm made of stone..
And I continue in my act of ignorance,
But time to time it haunts me.
Her cries for me, her moans of pain
It haunts me.... haunts me...
Dreamt of her many times,
In my dreams she is always alive and well,
But sadly in all my dreams she doesn't seem to know me anymore
Its probably feeling guilty on my part that I did not get the last chance to see her,
That I would dream of such sad dreams.
Years pass and I am weary, so weary..
:
And Jesus said: "Come to me, all who are weary, and I will give you rest..."
Father let me release my burdens into Your hands...

Fowlic Attack 2!! Retaliation of the shat-upons!! Victory emerges!
Haha... its revenge of the "shat-upons"! (meaning shitted on) I went climbing on last tuesday again and after the climb I was walking along the same stretch of road to take a bus back... And as I was passing a field(not far from the place where that pigeon shat on me) my friend nicole and I heard gunshots and a hoard of hysterical pigeons gliding towards us. Immediately I cowered my head under my arms and ducked down. Nicole thought I was frightened of the gunshots. But in fact I was frightened at the hoard of pigeons dashing towards us.
*Smirks* it seems that all my swearings on the pigeons came true! ahahah... was just @#$%*^ the previous time about the pigeons and hoping that they will get shot at one day... and it came true! But... somehow I felt a tinge of guilt and pity for the pigeons... I see them flapping their wings desperately and given the amount of brains they have they seem clueless where to run or hide. The more they try to fly to new directions the more they get shot at in the air.... I could sense fear in them.. and I felt sad..
I remember many years back when the officials came down to my estate and shot the crows that were breeding rapidly and causing a nuisance to the residents, that time I was still young and soft at heart.. not knowing the darkness of the world.. haha. and I actually cried for the crows.
But still.. I felt that my grievances have been redressed. :) Haha. I love quail eggs and fried/bbq spring chicken.
KFP (Kentucky Fried Pigeon) anyone?

My feelings are like oxymorons..
I don't know if its just me, or many others feel the way I feel too.. I feel as if my emotions are contradicting all the time;
Sometimes I feel so confident of myself, so proud of my own achievements, and then the next moment I could be feeling so down at how minute my contributions are, and that I'm too overconfident of certain things.
Somtimes I feel that I socialize well, and a split second later I wonder if people find me too irritating or too verbally crude.
Sometimes I feel beautiful, the next moment I see myself as a blop of shapeless lard.
Sometimes I think I'm responsible and reliable, next I am horrified at how irresponsible and lazy I am.
Sometimes I get so infatuated by a crush on a guy, and the next moment I could totally deny the fact that I even liked that guy..
Even worse, sometimes I even think that my crush likes me, and the next moment my heart sinks when I think that he doesn't at all...
Sometimes I think I'm so fit and sporty, at other times I feel so flabby and immobile
One moment I wish I could grow my hair long, the next moment I appreciate short hair
Sometimes I think that I care a lot about others, the next moment I realise how narcissistic and conceited I am...
And the list goes on... and on.... and on....
Gosh I think I'm the world's most fickle minded person... hmm.. yet I think I am strict on certain values and principles brought up in me... OH WAD AM I TRYING TO SAY HERE??? My body is trapped in a turmoil of emotions, like a roller coaster it goes up and down and up and down... puke...

Happy National Day!!!
Had a little party at my house on National Day. Invited a couple of ex-JC classmates, Ken Jia, Ship Ping, Lay Keow, Lariena and Wendy, friend of mine and Ken Jia, and Had a feast at my house. Dress code for the day: Red and white. First time I felt so patriotic. I wore white blouse and maroon pants. Had a red earring on one ear and a white one on another ear. Haha.
Menu: Japanese pancake, chocolate fondue, and the National Day Dessert: Almond and strawberry jelly :)
So we got busy cooking in the evening, at enjoyed watching parachutists, fighter jets soar through the sky, (all these could be seen from my window) and finally, enjoyed the marvellous fireworks. We were lucky this year, because Marina and the Padang had concurrent celebrations, there were fireworks at both location, which all could be seen from my place :D Beautiful. Had a great night together. Happy National Day to all!!!

Festival of Praise
On Saturday I attended the Festival of Praise at the indoor stadium with my old-time friend, Xiu Hua. We are what you call kiasu Singaporeans. haha. The session started at 7.30pm, but we reached the indoor stadium at 4pm. And we queued under the hot afternoon sun for almost 2 hours just to get a good set in the indoor stadium. We tagged along two boys who were Xiu Hua's friend's friends, and fortunately because of them we managed to find our way there and settle ourselves comfortably at the indoor stadium. They were even more kiasu, they "chopped" 33 seats for friends!
This event, organised by many churches, more of the contemporary kinds in Singapore, was a major event. It looked like a major rock concert, with lightings, and the indoor stadium was overflowing with young people. My my.. I feel old when I got there, a lot of teenagers.
It was an awesome praise and worship session; we got the 2 best Christian bands from the world: Hillsong and Delirious, and a very, very moving speaker from the UK, Rev Colin Dye. His speech moved me to tears. :P
Put together some very good and lively music, some motivational speaker, and a large, super active and enthusiatic crowd(jumping teenagers), and you have a perfect event that started and ended with a bang. Really wanted to attend the last session today too, but tomorrow I have lessons, and I thought it would be better if I went out less often from now..
Pictures from the event..
Me and Xiu Hua waiting under the hot evening sun.. We queued for 2 hours!!!

Fowlic Attack!!!!! Missile Pigeon Launched....
Mood Today: Cranky ( Too much adrenaline from rock-climbing)
What a day today!!! Bad mood.. bad mood... What are the chances of this happening on a place without trees, just open skies?? Close to none!!! Those ASSHOLES!!!!!. It was a bad day enough, have not climbed for such a looong time and my skills were rusty to the extent of disapppointment.
After a hard day at Climb Asia, the rock climbing place, fingers sore and feet aching.. my friends and I were walking along the row of shophouses to some kopitiam to chill out, and I was really feeling sore and raw after gripping the sandpaper-like rock tiles for hours....
AND as I was walking along the row of shophouses, I felt some fluid-like thing drop on my head, down to my shirt, and flowing down from my thighs to my calves. What was that? I saw a greenish fluid on my shirt. I looked up and above me I saw the butt of a FAT pigeon perched on a lamp post. ARGHHH!!!! BIRD SHIT!!!! Ewww... I stood there for a moment shocked.. and started ranting. Fortunately, there was no residue on my head, but the watery substance flowed down to my forehead....yucks!!! Then after that my friends and I were debating did the pigeon "lau-sai" (diahoerra) or it was a combination of shit and pee... Thanks for the greenish stain on my favourite white shirt YOU MORONIC FOWL!!!! I looked up and cursed the pigeon again and thought I saw its asshole smiling at me... (hallucination)
Well basically I just stood there and cursed the pigeon for a minute much to the amusment of my friends and an uncle sitting nearby selling durians.. Curse that pigeon! Curse it to have constipation to the extent it explodes with its own excrete! BOOM! MUHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHA!! DAMN YOU PIGEONS!! DAMN YOU!!!
Hmmm.. maybe I should go buy 4D, see whether can strike or not.. haha.. ooh.. but I'm not supposed to gamble hor? haha oops..
