Why Korean Dramas are so popular among asian women...

Move over J-pop, these days are the lovey-dovey Korean drama serials that occupy the google box by storm. From local channels to SCVs, to video cds, those ladies: from late teens to aunties enjoy them. This is the first time I ever saw my mom get so hooked up to watching serial dramas. Winter Sonata, Full House, All In.. wateva u can think of... Recently its "da Chang Jin" That ancient cooking + love plot drama. After watching that drama my mom wanted so badly to dine at a Korean restaurant, which we did.. but the food... yeee.
So.. what is it exactly that entices so many ladies to watch these shows?

Here is what I think... after watching and laughing at soppy plots these dramas have.. why women like these surreal, crappy, lovey-dovey plots:

1. the guys in the story always have a soft side
2. guys weep like sissies in the show, for nitty gritty things like "cannot get the one I love".. *rolls eyes*
3. there will always, if not, most of the time, have 2 guys to like 1 girl. And not really the other way round. Ha.
4. The guys... the guys in the show.. often can like a girl for a very, very long time.. say, since childhood? And they have eyes on only ONE girl....Tell me in reality.. who doesn't have multiple crushes?
5. Ahh.. this is the interesting part.. haha... there will always be a pathetic guy who buys a bouquet of roses, wants to give it to his admirer, but, always at the last min, he sees her wif another man, behaving so intimately, and therefore he : 1)Throws flowers away in the bin. 2) Slams flowers onto the ground 3)) gets rid of flowers and drives his posh car away in a very depressed manner.
6. Not to forget... the character in the shows are always very rich, or related to rich and wealthy people. Full of fancy houses, posh cars, and superb dress sense. What a fantasy...
7. Who can forget the lovely, romantic scenery that accompanies the dreamy storyline?
8. Not too explicit scenes of kissing and all that.. Less is good, and when they really kiss, even if its just a peck, the effect is so much more satisfying than seeing people get senselessly hot and passionate all the time.
9. Hmm... and the guys in the drama, all look clean, well groomed, well mannered and treats the one they love ever-so-sweetly. Who wouldn't want a guy like that??? Only in our dreamsss...

But, in reality... I don't really think there are so many of this kinda SNAG(sensitive new age guy) around, especially in more conservative countries, where the family system are still patriachal.. That kind, the wife stays at home, husband comes back and she waits on him... etc etc... so maybe shows like that give them an avenue to escape from reality, or maybe its just every girl's dream to have such a life, and such a dream guy...

Hmm.. but for me... I CRINGE at korean dramas. Too mushy and too many draggy plots ( they DO love each other, but for some dumb reasons they avoid each other and weep in agony. -_-''') But one thing I do like about it is their props and dress sense. Haa. Oh, and korean comedies are always welcome. Real funny.
